Busy Beery Bees

Today it all started coming together. The Community Centre was ripe with the smell of real ale which managed to reach reception by the time most of us left today!

All our casks are present and correct, labelled, tapped and settled for the morning.
The Prosecco Cart is fully assembled and waiting to be put in its place in the main hall ready for the morning. All it needs are the glasses and chilled bottles, that are all waiting in the fridge.

Roll on tomorrow when all our hard work can be enjoyed by our lovely ticket holders! Don't forget we want to hear about your day via our Twitter, Facebook or our website. Lets get #portchesterbeerfestival trending.

Racked & Ready.... The countdown begins!

Today we saw delivery of all our cask ales and the cask racks thanks to Irvings & Co Brewers & The Botley Brewery and Upham Brewery for their prompt deliveries. Our normally mundane Park Room was transformed into a 24 cask super bar within 2 hours. We had a great team today who volunteered their time to get the racks built and loaded.

The spiling was completed and there was a bit of spray from the more lively barrels (ceiling painting may be in order again this year and I think dear reader, as it was my barrel that decided to spray, it will be me doing the painting!) Must say a huge thank you to the Delme Arms and The Wicor Mill pubs for supplying us with the spiles as otherwise it couldn't have happened!

Tomorrow is tapping day with Ben from Upham Brewery who has kindly offered his time to do this for us. I'm sure there will be no more ceiling or wall spraying from this professional!

I left the Community Centre today smelling like a back street pub thanks to some lively casks which shall remain nameless, but apparently beer is good for the hair so I wont complain too much! I can't wait to sample a few of these from a glass on Saturday.

The Prosecco Bar canopy is now finished and ironed and ready to be fitted tomorrow. I have it on great authority that there are some bottles chilling from tonight.

We will have a limited amount of evening tickets available on the door on Saturday so if you are still undecided about coming, you may well be lucky enough to get one. Failing that the Community Centre will be open tomorrow and Friday as usual to take cash, cheque or card transactions for ticket sales and don't forget we can now also take card payments over the phone.

1 Week To Go!!!!!!!

There is only 1 week to go until the Portchester Beer Festival opens it's doors! This past week has seen a flurry of activity here at the community centre.

The Prosecco cart is getting it dressing of a smart canopy ready for the day, so if you are planning to drop into the centre this weekend for those all important tickets, you may just get a glimpse of it.

The programme, jam packed with all our lovely sponsor adverts, has gone to print and we are eagerly awaiting delivery next week.

On Thursday 13th April, Carol and Katie appeared on That's TV Solent to promote the festival and talk about its history. As soon as they release a video on YouTube it will be put up for you all to see!

Monday saw us take delivery of some delicious cider from Meon Valley Cider and we are ready for more deliveries this week. Its like a very boozy Christmas for us here! Here is another 5 of our selection available on the day:

We are now on the home straight, with THREE WEEKS to go!!! Tickets are selling fast so please avoid disappointment and buy in advance from either Portchester Community Centre or our ticket selling pubs (full list on the home page)

As promised we said we would give you a sneak preview of some of the ales and ciders on offer to wet your appetite before the big day.

This year we have been lucky enough to partner with some great local brewing companies who are doing their thing all over the South. The Botley Brewery ale and Meon Valley Cider are jumping on board this year supplying us with some of their fairs and also Irving & Co Brewers who are once again sponsoring our festival glasses.

Below are a few of the ales we have on offer:
